Hiking with Samuel

I (Nate) have been doing a lot of hiking with Sam lately. We've mainly stayed around the house, hiking along the river and up in the hills. But we recently did a really long hike (for him) up to the highest peak around (520 feet up). Here are some photos. It's strange, hiking with a 2.5 year old. When kids are first born, you do a lot of hiking with the little ones in chest carriers, then the backpack carrier when they get a bit bigger. But at some point they are just too heavy to lug around on your back (or they get impatient). When that happens, you stop hiking. We are now at the other end of things, we've been through the backpack years, through the no-hiking years, and we are now into the 'slow-hiking' years. I like it.
